Habitat for Humanity 2011
Building Houses---Building Hope
In 2009 Habitat for Humanity of Omaha celebrated their 25th anniversary. During that time 276 houses were built with the help of 102,749 volunteers. 788 children were given a chance to grow up in a safe neighborhood. $1,973,277 tax dollars have been paid to the City of Omaha.
On July 31st the Faithful Builders Coalition began construction on our 17th home at 2415 Himebaugh Ave. The family will work 350 hours of Sweat Equity and attend a series of workshops that will prepare them to be good homeowners. They will also pay back the entire cost of their home with a 0% loan.
The Faithful Builders Coalition is responsible for raising $75,000.00 in cash and in-kind donations. The St. James/St. Elizabeth Ann goal is $10,000.00.
How can you assist?
1. Make a cash donation.
2. Volunteer to help build.
3. Donate building, plumbing, electrical supplies or a furnace. In-kind donations decrease the amount of cash needed.
4. Provide and/or deliver food to the workers.
5. Buy a Habitat T shirt for $10.
6. Pray! Please pray for the family, for the safety of volunteers, for sufficient funds to build the home and for favorable building weather.
7. Support the Habitat ReStore. Any building material or home improvement related items are acceptable, as long as they are in good condition. The ReStore is located at 1003 S. 24th St. and is filled with donated new and used home improvement supplies, furniture and appliances. Useful items are kept out of the landfill, buyers get a great deal and Habitat for Humanity of Omaha uses the profits to build more homes. Call the ReStore at 934-1033 to be put on their “Specials” email list.
Homeownership gives families a sense of safety and stability. Children do better in school and are more confident. You have the power to make a difference. Please prayerfully consider making a cash or in-kind donation to help write another success story. All Habitat families appreciate your generosity. Thank you.

Shawnna Wagner and her children, Brandon and Mikayla
moved into their new Habitat for Humanity home in October, 2000. Shawnna was very touched by the members of the Faithful Builders Coalition who spent months planning and building the home. St. James has been building with Omaha Habitat for Humanity for over ten years. |
