Are you a "people person"? Do you enjoy interacting with others? Then you may be interested in the Ministry of Hospitality/Ushers at St. James.
Men and women-and some youth- are ushers and Ministers of hospitality. Ushers arrive early to warmly greet parishioners and visitors as they arrive. Greeters open doors and welcome those who come to worship. These ministers also help usher Mass participants to the pews. In addition, the ushers collect our offerings and either select a family to present the offerings, or several ushers will present the offerings. Following the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the ushers also pass the baskets for the dollar bill collection. As we proceed to the communion stations, ushers help our congregation move in order. Following the Mass, our ushers distribute copies of our Good News. During Easter and Christmas liturgies, the ushers are especially helpful because of the large number of visitors who join us to worship at these special Masses.
If you have any questions about ushering and being a Minister of Hospitality, please contact Keith Dai at 402-933-9962.
HOW DO I VOLUNTEER? If you would like to volunteer to be an usher, please print out and complete this form. Return the form to the parish office or you can put it in the offering basket.
