Wednesday of the Second Week of Easter

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:    Acts 4: 17 - 26
Responsorial Psalm:    Psalm
34: 2 - 3, 4 - 5, 6 - 7, 8 - 9
Gospel:    John 3: 16 - 21

God so loved the world.   God loved it all.  After creation, God was pleased because it was good.   That is our starting point for each day.   God is good and so are we.   We are loved.   All of us equally.   During Lent I read Fr. Gary Smith's book, They Come Back Singing.   It is about his six years with the Sudanese refugees in Africa.   What poverty of material goods, foods, health and education these children of God endure.   Yet they know they are loved and they celebrate.   It shocked me into being a grateful person, living in solidarity with these people who I now know as loved by God and worthy of my care and concern.   They taught me a lot.   Fr. Smith will be at Creighton next week on Tuesday and Wednesday and he will speak three times to the public.

Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the Pastoral Staff.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/readings/040208.shtml  This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
