Friday of the Second Week of Easter

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:    Acts 5: 34 - 42
Responsorial Psalm:    Psalm 27: 1, 4 13 - 14
Gospel:    John 6: 1 - 15

What would our response be if Jesus tested us today and said, "Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?"   We have helped the poor in many ways.   We can participate in the Pantry Program this Sunday as all first Sundays at SJ and bring canned foods to the narthex or library for our St. Vincent de Paul Pantry.    We can contribute money.   We can give canned goods to the Boy Scout drive this weekend.   We can help out at Siena/Francis House.   On April 11, 13 we can bring products to SJ for Siena/Francis House.   We can be an advocate for the poor by writing our mayor or city council members and asking them to fund a day shelter for the homeless.   We can look in our own neighborhoods and see the needs.   Do we know someone who was displaced by the terrible fire at Beacon Hill?   Do we know someone who is on food stamps, but might appreciate a dinner invitation?   Is there someone who is ill or has a family crisis and could use a home-cooked dinner?   Let us respond!

Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the Pastoral Staff.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/readings/040408.shtml  This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
