Tuesday of the Third Week of Easter

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:  Acts 7:51-8:1a
Responsorial Psalm:  Psalm 31:3cd-4, 6 and 7b and 8a, 17 and 21ab
Gospel:  John 6:30-35

Jesus is the bread of life.   Many of us are so used to receiving the Eucharist that we are not fully participating in the reception at times.   Today's reading may spur us to pay attention and appreciate the gift of Jesus' life.   A fast of bread and water may help us savor the bread and taste it.   Yeast breads always smell so fresh and while still warm are a delicious treat.   Let us make an effort today to more fully be aware of the bread of life by being aware of the breads we eat.   Let us become more grateful for the gift.

Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the Pastoral Staff.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/readings/040808.shtml  This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
