Today is February 20, 2008 Wednesday of the Second Week of Lent |

I remember one time I was asked to head up a committee and I promptly said yes. I assumed it was just a small group that was going to meet once a month. As it turned out, I bit off way more than I could chew and I nearly choked on the responsibilities that I had agreed to. In the end I was very pleased that I had accomplished many of the goals even though it had been difficult. As I read today's Gospel, I wonder if the disciples had a similar experience. They misunderstood the sacrifice that they had not only agreed to, but asked for from Jesus. In the end I imagine that it gave them great joy to follow Jesus and serve, despite the cost. When have you been asked by others or by God to do
something beyond yourself? When have you easily asked for
something of God and then found out that God's yes meant great work for
you? Is it happening this Lent? |
