Nicodemus was a brave and open man of faith. He challenged his contemporaries in his search for God and truth. He was a voice of reason, going against the status quo. I am reminded of the author of Revelation who rails against a city that is not passionate about faith. Nicodemus was passionate about faith and truth. The other day I learned of a settlement in central Kansas named Nicodemus. Freed slaves fled to Nicodemus to establish a new life. At first if you came upon the area you wouldn't see anything because most of the buildings were underground bunkers. Later with increased safety and funds, buildings were constructed. What bravery and faith. Let us pray that each of us will always look at situations with the eyes of faith whether our choices support or challenge. Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the
Pastoral Staff. |
