Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Solemnity of St. Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:   2 Samuel 7: 4 - 5a, 12 - 14a, 16
Responsorial Psalm:   Psalm 89: 2 - 3, 4 - 5, 27 and 29
Reading II:    Romans 4: 13, 16 - 18, 22
Gospel:    John 10: 31 - 42

The angel told Joseph not to be afraid to take Mary into his home.   I am always impressed by our parishioners who have opened their homes to others in need.   We have families who have adopted their grandchildren.   Others have adopted children from overseas.   Some families open their doors to foster children.    A couple regularly has adults who are in need of health care stay at their homes.   It takes faith to open your hearts to others in need and make room for them in your home, whether your "home" is your house or your heart.   Let us pray that we will be like St. Joseph and be willing to open our "homes" to those who will make Christ visible to us.

Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the Pastoral Staff.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/readings/031508.shtml  This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
