Good Friday

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:   Isaiah 52:13 - 53:12
Responsorial Psalm:   Psalm 31: 2, 6, 12 - 13, 15 - 16, 17
Reading II:   Hebrews 4: 14 - 16;  5: 7 - 9
Gospel:   John 18: 1  -  19: 42

Tonight's liturgy is one of the saddest.   As they presider lays face down, imagine yourself laying down before the cross, or opening yourself fully to God, or overcome with grief.   The liturgy is for you to live.   We will also venerate the cross tonight.  What else do I venerate, hold sacred?  Imagine holding the true cross.   And then we will partake of the reserved Eucharist.  No Mass today - how empty it seems.   Participate in these meaningful, sad sacrifices, and leave with hope, full of faith.

Please come to any or all of these beautiful services:  Noon outdoor Stations, 3 pm indoor Stations, 7:30 Liturgy.

Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the Pastoral Staff.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/readings/032108.shtml  This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
