Easter Sunday

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:   Acts 10:34, 37 - 43
Responsorial Psalm:    Psalm 118: 1 - 2, 16 - 17, 22 - 23
Reading II:  Colossians 3: 1 - 4
Gospel  John 20: 1 - 9

Mary Magdalene was the first to go to the tomb.   She loved Jesus and supported him in many ways.   She wanted to learn from him.   Despite her grief, she went to the tomb early in the morning.   Good Friday's evening service was definitely a time of grief.   The readings, the solemnity of the reverence of the cross, the empty sanctuary, the lack of a Eucharist, and the moving music, helped me to grieve Jesus.   Today, we, the first to return, are those who love and support Jesus and we are driven to return, to learn and to try and understand what happened.   We find that there is joy and resurrection!   Christmas let us know that God is with us.   Easter lets us know that Jesus' love assures us that we will always be with God.   Alleluia!

Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the Pastoral Staff.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/readings/032308.shtml  This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
