Today is March 29, 2008

Saturday of Easter Week

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:   Acts 4: 13 - 21
Responsorial Psalm:  118: 1 and 14 - 15ab, 16 - 18, 19 - 21
Gospel:    Mark 16: 9 - 15

In Mark today, we realize how dramatically different was God’s view from the world’s view. Who in the world would decide that the Messiah would be born as a babe in an animal’s trough? Who would decide to choose disciples from fishermen? And who would decide that the first Good News would come from the mouth of someone who had been demon possessed? And a woman at that! The people of the Old Testament would never have made these decisions and yet God did.

And today, God’s view still is different from the world view. We are bombarded by what society says is right and good. It really speaks to us to be open to the Holy Spirit for our guidance. On our own understanding, we will fail to make the right decisions.

During the week, before we make any decisions, let’s ask for guidance from the One who has a perfect plan for our lives.   PS

Today let us pray for St. James Parish and the Pastoral Staff.
